How old does my child need to play?

Bantams are ages 8 & 9, You must be 8 before Sept. 1st and can not be 10 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 130 lbs.
Juniors are ages 10 & 11, You must be 10 before Sept. 1st and can not be 12 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 145 lbs.
Seniors are ages 12 & 13 You must be 12 before Sept. 1st and can not be 14 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 180 lbs.


How do I register my child for football?
The GYFL will have signs ups in May (Look in the local paper or go to www.gyfl.net)

 

How much playing time is my child guaranteed?
The GYFL rule is if your team has more than 24 players than you are guarantee 6 plays, If your team roster is under 24 players than your child is guaranteed 8 plays per game

Where can I find ... ?

Why doesn't my child get to pick the team he wants to play on?

When you sign up for the GYFL in May, You are signing up to play Youth Football and not a particular team.

What are the requirements to enroll? (age, height, weight, school, residency, etc ?

You have to be a Greenwich resident
Bantams are ages 8 & 9, You must be 8 before Sept. 1st and can not be 10 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 130 lbs.
Juniors are ages 10 & 11, You must be 10 before Sept. 1st and can not be 12 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 145 lbs.
Seniors are ages 12 & 13 You must be 12 before Sept. 1st and can not be 14 before Sept. 1st and weigh no more than 180 lbs.
 

What is the process to register?

The GYFL will have signs ups in May (Look in the local paper or go to www.gyfl.net) You will need a copy of a birth certificate or a current passport. You will be required to sign a waiver for your child and the player & parent need to sign a player commitment form.


What additional items should we purchase?

At the Gator equipment fitting (handing our helmets, shoulder pads & mouth guards), The Gators will be selling knee & thigh pads, green practice pants and ZCool girdles) You will need to buy your own black high top cleats.


What is the practice & game schedule?

Once the season begins, (After Labor Day) The Gators will practice 3 times a week for 2 hours with games on Sunday

The Middle of August we start conditioning practice and the following week we start Contact practice.
